Tennessee state Rep. Gloria Johnson (D), who along with Reps. Justin Jones and Justin Pearson became the Tennessee Three after they protested gun violence on the state House floor, called out a Republican governor on Sunday.
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, who quickly drew tremendous outrage in the wake of a school mass shooting where six people including three young children were shot to death after he said he was “praying for the school, congregation & Nashville community,” without posting any mention of the mass shooting itself, recently chimed in on the California fires.
Lee was responding to President Joe Biden, who said, “I’m announcing that the federal government will cover 100% of the cost of measures to protect lives and property in Southern California for six months.”

“I’ve told the Governor and officials to spare no expense and do whatever they need to contain the fires and protect families,” Biden said on X.
Lee replied, “What’s happening in California is heartbreaking, & they need this immediate federal response. Appalachia should be treated the same, but the Biden admin made TN wait 42 days for answers after Hurricane Helene.”
“Soon we’ll have a president who gives every state equal respect,” Lee added.
But Johnson called him out on what she said is a lie.
“You’re such a liar, you know there is a full record in print, right?” she asked him. “It would’ve been faster if you had made the request when other states did, but you waited until folks were standing on the roof of a hospital needing rescue.”
“He granted it within hours, when you finally asked,” the lawmaker added on Sunday.
