In just 48 hours, President Donald Trump unveiled a series of executive orders — including the banning of federal diversity, equity and inclusion programs and jobs. CNN’s Sahil Kapur reported on Wednesday via X: “This email went out to Veterans Affairs employees. An instruction to be aware of any back door DEI attempts ‘using coded or imprecise language’ and report them within 10 days. There could be ‘adverse consequences’ for those who come by such information but fail to report it.”The email — which says “MESSAGE FROM THE ACTING SECRETARY” — reads: “We are taking steps to close all agency diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) offices and end all DEIA- related contracts in accordance with President Trump’s executive orders titled Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing and Initial Rescissions of Harmful Executive Orders and Actions.”READ MORE: ‘Poor, slipshod work’: Trump accused of ‘obviously’ using AI to write executive ordersThe acting secretary continued, “These programs divided Americans by race, wasted taxpayer dollars, and resulted in shameful discrimination.”The message ends, “In addition to the above, all personnel are directed to withdraw any final or pending documents, directives, orders, materials, and equity plans issued by the agency in response to now-repealed Executive Order 14035, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) in the Federal Workforce (June 25, 2021).
