Qatar says Israel, Hamas at closest point yet to ceasefire deal

Qatar said Tuesday that negotiations for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip were in the “final stages” and that the two sides were at the “closest point” yet to an agreement. Speaking at a weekly briefing, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari described the ongoing talks as positive and productive, while also cautioning against over-excitement until a deal is announced.
