Republican state Sen. Colton Moore is accusing Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis of being the mastermind behind his arrest Thursday outside the Georgia House chamber. And Moore, a staunch supporter of Donald Trump who previously led the impeachment charge against Willis for her prosecution of the president-elect, is seizing the opportunity to gin up outrage in MAGA world. The Georgia lawmaker revealed his new conspiracy theory Friday during an interview on One America News Network’s “The Matt Gaetz Show.”“Do you think part of how you were treated is political payback because you’ve been so outspoken regarding the corruption of Fani Willis?” disgraced former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) asked.“100 percent Matt,” Moore said. “Think about this – those Republicans you talk about that held that pressure, one of them was Speaker John Burns, he’s had articles of impeachment against Fani Willis on his desk for nearly a year and didn’t want to do anything about it.”Moore’s outspoken opposition toward Willis has been highlighted in national conversations revolving around Trump’s Georgia prosecution for years. In 2023, the far-right senator’s ouster from his party’s caucus for his repeated insistence to investigate Willis elicited rage in MAGA world.READ ALSO: America is marching toward theocracy one zygote at a timeRepublican Gov. Brian Kemp made clear at the time that he didn’t believe impeaching Willis was appropriate.“The guy is a complete and total tyrant,” Moore said Friday of Georgia’s Republican House Speaker, who Moore also referred to as a “Never Trump Republican.”Moore on Thursday was arrested by state troopers on misdemeanor charges of obstructing law enforcement after he defied an order by Burns barring him from entering the House chamber for “vile, disparaging and false comments” he made about the late House Speaker David Ralston. When Moore attempted to barrel past security officials anyway, a shoving match ensued and the lawmaker was eventually tossed to the floor. Moore said hours later, from a hospital bed, that he took “a bit of a beating on my hand” and used the incident to hold an “urgent” fundraiser.
