‘Never going to be made whole’: Expert says Giuliani can’t pay defamed poll workers

Atlanta poll workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss will likely recover some of the damages they are owed by Donald Trump ally Rudy Giuliani for falsely smearing them as trying to rig the 2020 election — but not even close to what he owes, former federal prosecutor Elie Honig told CNN’s Jake Tapper on Monday. The simple reason for this, he explained, is that Giuliani — whose legal problems were compounded earlier in the day by being held in contempt of court for failing to properly respond to discovery requests in that case — does not have the assets required to pay the full amount.”Do they have any chance at all to recover the judgment?” asked anchor Jake Tapper.ALSO READ: ‘Bring it on’: Defiant Raskin responds to GOP threats of retaliation for J6 investigation”They will collect some portion, but sadly that portion will be 10 percent or less than the $150 million or so they’re owed,” Honig told him.”First of all, there are a lot of other people who Rudy Giuliani owes money to,” continued Honig. “Second of all, he just doesn’t have enough assets. Even the assets we’re talking about here, the Manhattan home, the Florida home, if you total those up, it’s about $10 million, which is less than 10 percent of the total amount that are due.”The upshot, he concluded, is “they are pursuing their assets but they will never be made whole.”Watch the video below or at the link here.
