A federal judge on Monday found former Donald Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani in contempt for failing to comply with turning over information to the two Georgia ex-election he defamed following the 2020 election. Speaking with defense lawyer Misty Marris about the former New York mayor’s case, CNN’s Boris Sanchez emphasized that Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Shaye Moss, are pursuing Giuliani for $150 million in damages.Noting that the mother-daughter duo has “had a hard time trying to collect that,” and that “Giuliani had a lot of issues after he was found liable in court over this,” the CNN host asked Marris about next steps for the former MAGA lawyer.READ MORE: Judge warns Giuliani headed for danger in upcoming contempt hearing: report”This was an issue about his Palm Beach residence primarily,” Marris began, “and whether or not that can be used to satisfy the judgment.”The defense attorney continued, “And his argument is this is his private residence and the laws in Florida could help shield your private residence from being something that would be subject to judgment collection. So that’s what this all stems from.”Marris added, “This hearing was about all of these documents and information and evidence that he would establish whether or not it would qualify under these restrictions as far as collections, and he did admitted, Boris, in his contempt hearing that he did fail to turn over evidence and information that he was supposed to and he was ordered to do. He gave excuses, but he said he didn’t do it, and that was really the nail in the coffin, because at that point, it was almost inevitable that we would see this contempt finding.””This means that additional charges could be added,” Marris emphasized, “there will be additional financial penalties relating to this, and also now, all of that stuff he needs to turn over has to be done ASAP.
