The host was disappointed after a player’s decision on today’s episode
The Chase’s Bradley Walsh was disappointed after a player’s decision on today’s show. Friday’s edition of the ITV game show saw four new players take on one of Britain’s finest quizzers in a bid to win a cash prize.
Jason, Ruth, Diane and Ian were testing their wits against Darragh Ennis in a bid to win. Ian was first up, but didn’t make it back home in a failed attempt to bring £2,000 home from the chaser. Next, Diane also performed poorly in a decision to go for £1,000, as a powerful Darragh took control of the game.
Up next was Ruth who confidently went for the middle cash pot prize with hopes of returning back to the team. However, The Menace was on top form again and pushed Ruth back further and further before eliminating her from the game.
After three eliminated contestants only twenty minutes into the show, Bradley Walsh said: “this is really disastrous for my team”.
Darragh added: “the team has fallen apart”, as Ian, Diane, and Ruth failed to make it through. The pressure to bring home any prize money was put onto the final contestant Jason, who made a bold decision.
He decided to go for Darragh’s higher cash prize of £100,000. He said “I wasn’t going to do this, but being the last person, I have to”.
However, Jason seemed to be too focussed on the high prize pot to consider how tough the game would be for him alone. His eagerness cost him the game, as Jason followed in the footsteps of previous contestants and was dominated by the witty chaser.
Bradley joked: “And then there were none” Viewers took to X, formally known as Twitter, to comment on the team’s loss.
One said: “This has been another waste of an hour” (@janetpascodean). Another said: “The menace, on the other hand, is on top form and was able to take out the entire team” (@nuttygothicart).
After a disappointing outcome after the first round, the contestants had a final chance to take home some cash. The team nominated Jason to return and represent the team for a final bid to win £1,000 each. In the question round, Jason successfully answered 12 questions correctly. However, when it came to Darragh’s turn to tackle Bradley’s quick-fire questions, the contestants’ likelihood of taking any money at all home seemed to fizzle away.
Ian, Diane, Ruth and Jason did their best to beat the chaser. However, in this case, the power and intelligence of Darragh Ennis dominated every game in Friday’s episode of ITV’s The Chase, which is on every weeknight at 5pm on ITV1.
