Dianne Buswell’s mum and dad have been in the UK for seven weeks as they watched their daughter compete in Strictly Come Dancing and lift the Glitterball trophy alongside Scouse comedian Chris McCausland.
Parents Rina and Mark will be flying back home to Australia today. The professional dancer shared a video of her and Chris embracing the two with hugs. In the Instagram post, Dianne said: “And just like that 7 weeks has passed by and it’s time for mum and dad to fly the nest back home to Australia today.”
She continued: “But what a 7 weeks it has been honestly moments that I had only dreamed of came to life and the best bit was that my parents were right there with me. Already looking forward to the next time we can make memories together. Love you both very much.”
The 35-year-old has been supported by fans who took to the Instagram comments to share well wishes. One fan was moved by the clip, stating: “Your Dad & Chris. The hugging & back patting has made me really emotional.”
Another said: “Bless you Di, it’s been so so magical to see your lovely parents around these last few months. Will never forget the pride of when you won. The moment I think none of us are keen to forget.”
More commenters said: “I’m so so glad your parents were there when you won it will be a memory you all cherish forever I’m sure. I’m going to miss seeing them in Joe’s and your vlogs and I hope for yours and your parents sake it isn’t too long before you reunite.” And a further follower responded: “Made me cry watching this. Your family is simply beautiful. Hope they have a safe trip home.”
In an interview with the ECHO, Scouse comic Chris revealed his initial goal was to reach week eight of the competition as this is when Dianne’s parents would arrive in the UK.
He said: “Me and Dianne have really had this pipedream of being here the week after Blackpool because her mum and dad are coming from Australia and they haven’t seen her dance live for eight years.”
