A person has died after being found on a railway line. Police and paramedics were called to reports of a casualty on the tracks at Burnage station at around 9.30pm on Monday, January 20.
“Major travel disruption” was reported between between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport, with train services from Liverpool and Blackpool also suspended while emergency services responded to the incident, Lancs Live reports.
British Transport Police confirmed a person was pronounced dead at the scene and the incident is not being treated as suspicious. A police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Burnage railway station at around 9.30pm last night (20 January) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
