The Chase: Contestant Greg cuts short chat about rostis
The Chase star Anne Hegerty didn’t mince her words when she had a sharp response for host Bradley Walsh, who seemed taken back by one of her answers.
In the latest episode of Beat the Chasers aired on January 23, Bradley was accompanied by a formidable lineup of Chasers as they faced off against contestants from around the UK.
Before facing the collective might of the Chasers, Leeds contestant Ali tackled a rapid round of five questions, each worth £1,000.
Bradley cautioned him: “Please don’t get the first question wrong because if you do then you are out, however if you get all five questions right then you win 5 grand and take on all six chasers with a super offer.”

When the first question came up, Bradley read: “Which book in the Harry Potter series is known in German as Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen. Is it A. The Philosopher’s Stone, B. The Chamber of Secrets, or C. The Goblet of Fire?”
Ali wasn’t certain but chose to answer with A. His guess turned out to be spot on, reports the Mirror. However, Bradley admitted his own confusion, saying: “Can I be honest? I thought that was wrong. Goblet of fire, as in ‘stein’. So it’s not a stein, then?”
Quick to clarify, Anne interjected: “That’s what you were supposed to think. That was the trick in the question.” Bradley, taken aback, responded: “Aww ok.”
The Chase fans were less than thrilled with a contestant’s antics in a recent episode, urging him to ‘please stop’ due to his ‘annoying’ actions.
In Wednesday’s (January 22) showing of the popular ITV quiz show, Samir from Surrey became the talk of the audience when he faced The Governess, choosing to aim for a £5,000 middle offer.
As the game progressed, many viewers took to X, previously known as Twitter, to express their irritation at Samir’s tendency to overly justify his choices and his excessive hand gestures while talking.
Posting their frustration online, one viewer commented: “I can’t cope with all his long explanations #thechase.” Another chimed in with: “Are the explanations necessary? ? Please stop! #TheChase.” (sic)
Highlighting the contestant’s behaviour, another said: “This dude thinks he’s making a TikTok Turning to Bradley after each answer to explain it and using his hands Possibly one of the most annoying things I’ve seen on this show.”
An additional fan urged restraint on X, stating: “Stop over explaining every answer lad, this show only lasts an hour #TheChase.” (sic)
