Jack P. Shepherd revealed he doesn’t keep in touch with former Coronation Street co-stars after it was announced Colson Smith would be exiting the popular show.
Coronation Street star Jack P. Shepherd revealed he brutally snubs former colleagues when they leave the hit show. Jack revealed the move after news broke that co-star and fellow On The Sofa podcast presenter Colson Smith would be leaving the show.
Colson, 26, has spent 14 years on the ITV hit programme playing Craig Tinker. It prompted podcast listeners to become concerned that Jack and Colson would no longer speak after the actor leaves the show.
Jack however reassured listeners the pair would remain friends as they host the podcast together. He explained: “Because we’re still doing the podcast I’ll still have a relationship with him.”
Fellow podcast presenter Ben Price, who plays Nick Tilsley on Coronation Street queried: “So if he left the podcast, you wouldn’t talk to him again?” Jack stood by his stance and responded: “I don’t think so, unless anything materialises in the future.”

Ben however stressed Jack would speak to Colson if he “owed him money”. Jack then replied saying that he would speak to his former co-star “if their paths crossed again”.
Jack joked: “What are we going to do?” While Colson explained the pair only really talk about working on the ITV show and football.
The trio concluded the reason they don’t all talk individually is because they share a group chat where they communicate among each other. Colson wouldn’t be the first star Jack has admitted not to speaking to after they left the show either.
Previously on the podcast he revealed he hadn’t reached-out to former Corrie actress Helen Worth, who played his on-screen mum Gail Platt. Explaining how he doesn’t often speak to former stars, Jack said: “No, I usually don’t; I don’t. If the opportunity arises, and they phone me, I’ll answer,” causing his co-hosts to burst into laughter.
However, Jack clarified that this applies to “all walks of life”. He added: “That’s just all walks of life. I don’t ring anyone really. Who do you ring?”
No air date has yet been revealed for Colson’s exit from the show. Although he revealed this week he learnt about his exit last year.
Writing on social media, he said: “Autumn last year I was told that Craig Tinkers time on the Cobbles is to come to end in 2025. I’ve LOVED every single second of my 14 year stay as a resident on the GREATEST street in the world.
“I feel incredibly lucky to have grown up in, on and around Coronation street. I’ve learnt pretty much everything about life from the people who call it home.
“I’m excited to play out the exit story for Our Craigy. For me, this is just the end of the beginning. I genuinely can’t wait to see what chapter 2 has in store for me. LONG LIVE THE COBBLES!”
