Christine Lampard shared the sad news on Loose Women
Loose Women was interrupted this afternoon as the programme returned from an advert break. The show came back on air with a heartbreaking announcement as they shared the news Linda Nolan has died following a cancer battle.
The camera focused on Christine Lampard as she addressed the audience saying: “Some very sad news for you now Linda Nolan has died at the age of 65.” She read out the statement which has been released by Linda’s agent.
The statement, which was also shared with Mirror Online, said: “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Nolan, the celebrated Irish pop legend, television personality, Guinness World Record holding West End star, Sunday Times bestselling author and Daily Mirror columnist.
“She passed at around 10:20am at Blackpool Victoria Hospital on the MCEW Ward. The family said the hospital couldn’t do enough, they were tireless and made it so much more bearable.”
The statement continued: “She passed peacefully, with her loving siblings by her bedside, ensuring she was embraced with love and comfort during her final moments. Linda’s legacy extends beyond her incredible achievements in music and entertainment.”
The panel said they have been talking about Linda for so long with her sister Coleen. Nadia Sawalha added: “It was a tough time for the family.” She continued: “Nothing ever prepares you, there is a moment the light goes out and when that happens it’s a shock isn’t it.”
The Loose Women panellists sent all their love and said they are thinking of the family today. A black and white image of Linda appeared on the screen as the audience gave a heartwarming applause.
Linda’s sisters, Anne, 74, Denise, 72, Maureen, 69, and Coleen, 59 were called to her bedside at 3.30am on Tuesday as doctors made the decision to place her in end-of-life care. They kept a vigil by her side in her final hours.
Linda was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and was given the all-clear in 2011. But in 2017, four years after the death of her sister Bernie, aged 52 in 2013, Linda was told the disease had returned after tumours were found in her hip bone and pelvis.
