Republicans ‘completely capitulated’: Dem strategist busts GOP pundit for rewriting Jan. 6

Monday, January 6, 2025 not only marks the certification of President-elect Donald Trump’s Electoral College victory over Vice President Kamala Harris, but also, the fourth anniversary of the attack on the U.S. Capitol Building by Trump supporters who refused to accept the 2020 election results. Ahead of the joint session of Congress where the 2024 electoral votes will be counted and certified, Democratic strategist Maria Cardona and right-wing media figure Brad Todd discussed the anniversary of the January 6, 2021 riot.Cardona was vehemently critical of the way many Republicans have responded to that attack, arguing they failed to hold Trump accountable. During the segment, Cardona butted heads with Todd — who noted the criticism of Trump that initially came from some GOP leaders four years ago. The criticism, Cardona reminded Todd, didn’t last long. And the history is not going to be kind to them because while what you said is true that they were against him, that lasted like a nanosecond…. The facts are the facts, Brad.”Todd interjected that the Capitol riot “deserved a full bipartisan investigation,” and Cardona responded, “But you can’t have a full bipartisan investigation when your party initially said yes, Donald Trump is in the wrong — and then, completely capitulated.” Todd argued that the Capitol riot investigation “was controlled by one party completely” — meaning Democrats — and Cardona countered, “Everyone went down to Mar-a-Lago to kiss the ring, and everything changed after that.”Cardona stressed that the GOP’s willingness to defend Trump despite the January 6, 2021 attack is a very bad reflection on the party. And I don’t think history will judge him well…. It might very well have been that if Kamala Harris had won, there could have been violence, because Donald Trump would have promoted it. Because Donald Trump would have urged it.”READ MORE: ‘Trump’s foot soldiers’: White nationalists are feeling emboldened by his return to powerWatch the full video below or at this link.
