After losing Arizona’s 2022 gubernatorial race to Democratic now-Gov. Katie Hobbs, far-right MAGA conspiracy theorist Kari Lake angrily railed against her opponent and falsely claimed, without evidence, that the election had been stolen from her. In contrast, then-Gov. Doug Ducey, a conservative Republican, congratulated Hobbs and offered to help her with the transition. Lake lost another statewide race in 2024 when she ran for the U.S. Senate seat presently occupied by Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-Arizona).
