Miguel Pirjani died five days after being found in a critical condition at a house on Percy Road in Seacombe
A man and woman have appeared in court charged with assaulting a baby who later died aged 12 weeks. Merseyside Police were called to a house on Percy Road in Seacombe, Wirral, at around midday on Sunday, November 24, having received reports of concerns for the safety of the child, who was found in a critical condition.
Klevi Pirjani and Nivalda Santos Pirjani, aged 36 and 33 respectively and both of Percy Road, were then charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent against the youngster, who subsequently died on the afternoon of Friday, November 29. They appeared before Liverpool Crown Court this morning, Monday, in order to face the single count on the indictment.
Both spoke to confirm their name and dates of birth while wearing grey prison issue tracksuits and appearing via video link to HMP Liverpool and HMP Styal respectively. Neither were asked to enter pleas to the charge of assaulting the child, named in court as Miguel Pirjani, however.

The plea and trial preparation hearing was instead adjourned to January 27, with the Honorary Recorder of Liverpool Judge Andrew Menary KC further remanding both Klevi and Nivalda Santos Pirjani, who were assisted by an interpreter, into custody until this date. A provisional two-week trial was set for May 19 next year, with a backup trial also scheduled for September 22.
The ECHO previously reported that injuries were found to Miguel’s body after he was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead five days later. Floral and toy tributes, including cuddly toys, were subsequently left outside the address in question.
