A large cordon is in place following the crash
A man was seriously injured after coming off his scrambler bike during a police chase. Waterpark Drive in Stockbridge Village is closed in both directions following a serious crash on Christmas Day.
Merseyside Police has referred itself to the independent watchdog following the incident which involved a man who came off a scrambler bike on Waterpark Drive, near to St Brigids Primary School, at around 11.40am. Police said the bike had failed to stop for a marked police vehicle and had been pursued prior to the crash.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash. The rider of the bike was taken to hospital for assessment of serious injuries. A road closure remains in place from Round Hey to The Withens.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has been notified following the incident. Pictures taken at the scene this afternoon show a large police cordon and multiple police vehicles in attendance.
