Ruben Amorim insists Marcus Rashford is not showing enough to return for Manchester United (Amazon Prime)
Ruben Amorim is adamant that Marcus Rashford is still not showing enough to warrant a return to the squad after Manchester United’s 2-0 defeat to Wolves on Boxing Day.
Rashford has now been left out of United’s last four games in all competitions, with Amorim taking full responsibility to exclude the 27-year-old from his matchday squads.
United suffered their third defeat in a row on Thursday as second-half goals from Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-Chan sealed the win for Wolves at Molineux.
Rashford, meanwhile, has also indicated that he is ready to leave United in an interview last week in which he said he wanted ‘a new challenge’.
When asked if Rashford could help United after their defeat to Wolves, Amorim told Amazon Prime: ‘It’s always the same reason it’s going to be.
‘We have to be the same professionals, I have to be the same guy winning or losing.

‘Losing, I have to be stronger so I will continue with my idea until the end.’
Asked if Rashford has shown anything different since being left out, Amorim replied: ‘If he is not here you can make up your mind.’
United will now be without Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte for their match at home to Newcastle United on December 30 due to suspension.
Fernandes was sent off against Wolves for two yellow cards, while Ugarte picked up his fifth booking in the league, which warrants a one-match ban.
‘We have to improve the relationships but we have some moments, I think we lack a little bit of aggression, but we train, we try to find a better way to win games, but we controlled the games, like the other ones we lost,’ Amorim said.
‘I think we were always in control, not always dominating, but in control, but the same things, set-pieces and also the sending off was really hard for us.
‘I said it before everybody… it will be a long journey and this moment will be really tough. We have to continue. We need to have time to train.’
