NEW DELHI: AAP on Thursday launched a scathing attack on its INDIA bloc partner Congress, accusing it of working with the BJP for the upcoming Delhi polls. Addressing a press conference, AAP leader Sanjay Singh said, “Congress doing everything to help BJP win Delhi polls.”
The AAP also announced that it would sought Congress’s removal from the INDIA bloc in consultation with other allies if no action is taken against Congress leader’s Ajay Maken recent statement against the AAP supremo.
Accusing Ajay Maken of playing by BJP’s script, Sanjay Singh said, “Congress leader Maken called Arvind Kejriwal ‘anti-national.’ The party must take action against him within 24 hours.”
This sharp rebuttal follows Ajay Maken’s statement on Wednesday, where he described the Congress party’s decision to support AAP in forming the government in 2013 as one of the biggest ‘strategic blunders’ that led to Congress’s decline in Delhi. AAP is also miffed with the Congress after its youth wing filed a complaint against Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of “misleading and deceiving” the public with promises of “non-existent” welfare schemes.
“Congress’s list of candidates for the Delhi polls appears to have been prepared by the BJP, aimed at harming AAP,” Sanjay Singh added.
Further, chief minister Atishi added to the accusations, alleging that the Congress party is receiving campaign funding from the BJP.
“Congress’s actions have made it evident that it has joined hands with the BJP for the Delhi elections. Yesterday, senior Congress leader Ajay Maken called Kejriwal anti-national. Have they ever raised such accusations against any BJP leader? No, but they are targeting AAP,” CM Atishi said.
“Yesterday, the Youth Congress filed an FIR against Arvind Kejriwal and me. Additionally, we have learned from official sources that the BJP is funding Congress candidates, including Sandeep Dixit. We demand answers; otherwise, we will discuss with INDIA alliance partners the possibility of withdrawing our alliance with the Congress party,” she added.
