‘That’s what friends are for!’ Farage claims Trump and Musk will throw weight behind Reform

Nigel Farage has claimed that incoming US President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk will provide support for Reform UK ahead of the next General Election.Speaking at a “special” press conference in Westminster, the Reform UK leader set his sights on Downing Street after confirming 100,000 people have now joined the populist party.Farage claimed he is preparing to unleash activists from across 400 local branches ahead of the 2025 Local Elections. However, the Clacton MP also appeared to suggest he could call on the help from his pals on the other side of the pond.Responding to questions from journalists, Farage said: “Are Trump and Elon going to support me in the run up to 2029? Well, that’s what friends are for, isn’t it?”Farage jetted off to America ahead of the 2024 US Presidential Election to support Trump and even appeared at his rally in Pennsylvania donning a Reform-syle MAGA hat.He also appeared at the incoming President’s Election Night party in Florida, with Musk joining Trump behind the scenes to mark the historic moment. However, during the campaign, Farage complained about Labour staffers rallying up support for Kamala Harris in key swing states.Farage has also positioned himself for an “interluctor” role between Sir Keir Starmer’s Government and Trump’s second administration after the Prime Minister came under fire for a series of controversial comments made by top Labour MPs about the 45th President.Musk is also a fierce critic of Starmer’s Government, wading in on the recent summer riots and Allison Pearson police probe. Despite offering support for bolstering the special relationship, Farage remains determined to smash the two-party system.LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:Net migration even HIGHER in 2023 than first thought after ONS missed 181,000 people initiallyPolice officer steals steak and cheese on brazen Lidl shoplifting spreeLabour faces legal backlash to ‘cruel’ Winter Fuel Payment cut as pensioners lose £300Farage is even hoping to learn from Trump’s 2024 campaign ahead of the next General Election. He said: “The big difference with Trump’s campaign in 2024 compared to 2016, it was so much more professional.“It was completely different. There was an atmosphere of calm at Mar-A-Lago during the last 18 months.“I’ve seen what professionalising the campaign does for Trump, it was a big success, and that’s what I’m going to do.“He presented a much broader front than just the one man to the American people, that’s very much what I want to do to Reform.“This is not going to be a one-man band with just me at the front.“What he also did was put together a remarkable coalition of voters.“The big rise in the black vote for Trump, an even bigger rise in the Hispanic vote for Trump.“At the last general election more members of what they call the BAME community voted Reform than voted Liberal Democrat.“And I think you’re going to be very surprised when you see the coalition of people that we put together.”During Farage’s “special” press conference, Reform UK unveiled ex-Tory MP Dame Andrea Jenkyns as its latest Tory defector and confirmed she will stand for the populist party in 2025.Jenkyns said: “The truth is undeniable: the ship is sinking and perhaps, sadly, beyond salvage but enough is enough.“It is time to step aboard a movement with vision and purpose and the courage to fight for Britain’s future.”Welcoming Jenkyns, Farage added: “Now we said that when we hit 100,000 members the lucky winner would go out for a pint for Lee Anderson. Now I fear that was deeply inaccurate. The use of the singular strikes me as being very unlikely with Lee.“And by sheer coincidence the 100,000th member happens to be a former Conservative Member of Parliament, who would believe that. Isn’t that extraordinary that it’s worked out that way?“Her name is Dame Andrea Jenkyns and not only is Andrea joining the party but after an internal selection process she has now been selected as our candidate and she will run to be the newly created mayor of Lincolnshire on May 1 next year year and I believe she has every chance of winning.”However, the Clacton MP did concede Reform UK will need to win “hundreds” of council seats at the local elections next May to prove it is on a path to winning power.Farage explained: “Yes, we have to win a lot of council seats next year. We have to win and yes it is going to have to be in the hundreds to be credible.“Is that an easy thing ot achieve? No. Are we going to do it? Watch this space.”
