Messe, Basel: Art Basel 2024 in Basel wrapped up on Sunday, June 16th, marking a triumphant conclusion under the leadership of new show director Maike Cruse. The week-long event saw robust sales across all artistic sectors, attracting 91,000 visitors during VIP and public days.
A Thriving Marketplace
The 2024 edition of Art Basel’s flagship show in Basel concluded with highly praised presentations from 285 galleries from 40 countries and territories. They reported robust sales throughout the week. Artistic Innovation
The 2024 edition brought exciting new elements to the Basel show. This time a curated section called Parcours unfolded throughout the city’s main thoroughfare. Overseen by Stefanie Hessler, Director of the Swiss Institute (SI) New York, this section showcased art installations along the route from the fairgrounds to the Rhine River.
Engagement for All
Art Basel expanded its public program to include a wider range of artistic events and performances. Held at the Merian, these offerings featured contributions from renowned local and international artists, curators, musicians, and thought leaders. This expanded program attracted a broad audience throughout the week.

A Longstanding Partnership
UBS, Art Basel’s Global Lead Partner, celebrated its 30th year of collaboration with the fair. To mark this milestone, UBS co-presented a series of public art installations throughout the city, including locations at the Merian and UBS’s Claraplatz Branch. These installations brought contemporary art to new audiences and further emphasized the power of art to connect people.
With its strong sales, innovative presentations, and expanded public program, Art Basel 2024 in Basel cemented its place as a leading art fair under the leadership of Maike Cruse.
