Monte Carlo, Monaco: Mitch Evans finally conquered Monaco! After leading the race on four previous occasions, the Kiwi driver secured a well-deserved victory for Jaguar TCS Racing. Evans crossed the finish line first, followed by Cassidy to secure a dominant 1-2 finish for Jaguar. Stoffel Vandoorne (DS PENSKE) and Jean-Eric Vergne (DS PENSKE) rounded out the podium.
Jaguar’s Strategy Shines
The team’s tactics were on point. Evans built a gap early on, while his teammate Cassidy held back the pack. This allowed Evans to use his power boosts effectively and maintain the lead.
Evans and Cassidy Dominate
Halfway through the race, Evans used his second power boost, briefly giving the lead to Cassidy. However, Evans quickly regained control and held off the competition to secure a dominant one-two finish for Jaguar.
Tight Battle for the Other Podium Spots
Stoffel Vandoorne (DS Penske) and Jean-Eric Vergne (DS Penske) followed the Jaguars home in third and fourth, respectively. Championship leader Pascal Wehrlein (Porsche) finished fifth, with Oliver Rowland (Nissan) and Antonio Felix da Costa (DS Penske) rounding out the top seven.
Drama on the Track
Edo Mortara’s crash and a late incident involving Nico Mueller necessitated a Safety Car appearance. However, these interruptions couldn’t stop Evans from claiming his first Monaco win.
Jaguar Extends Championship Lead
While Wehrlein retains the lead in the driver’s standings, this victory strengthens Jaguar’s position in the team standings, while the battle for the driver’s championship remains tight. With just 14 points separating the top four contenders, the excitement continues in the next round in Berlin!
