Berlin/Dubai, 6 March 2024: Emirates today welcomed Kai Wegner, Governing Mayor of Berlin; Franziska Giffey, Senator for Economic Affairs, Energy and Public Enterprises and Dieter Janecek, Federal Government Coordinator of the Maritime Industry and Tourism, Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and other senior officials to its stand during the Official Opening Tour of ITB Berlin, starting this year’s edition of the world’s leading travel trade show. Members of the VIP delegation were officially welcomed by Sir Tim Clark, President Emirates Airline and Adnan Kazim, Emirates Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer.
The officials were given a tour of the airline’s Economy Class seat display with its latest amenities, as well as the iconic A380 Onboard Lounge. Emirates has planned three action-packed days at ITB Berlin, aiming to strengthen and forge new strategic partnerships across the regional travel and aviation ecosystem.
Visitors to the Emirates stand located in Hall 2.2, stand number 101 will have the opportunity to experience Emirates’ latest roster of innovative products and fan-favourites including the highly popular Emirates Premium Economy seat which will be showcased in Germany for the first time. Unveiled at the 2022 Arabian Travel Market in Dubai, Emirates’ Premium Economy product has so far won multiple awards and is available on 27 A380 aircraft flying to 15 destinations including New York JFK, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, London Heathrow, Sydney, Auckland, Christchurch, Melbourne, Singapore, Tokyo, Mumbai, Bangalore, Sao Paulo and Dubai.
Also debuting for the first time at ITB Berlin is Emirates’ iconic Boeing 777-300ER game-changer First Class fully enclosed private suite. With the full range of onboard products on display, visitors can experience Emirates’ Boeing 777 Business Class seat, the newest generation of the A380 Onboard Lounge and First Class Shower Spa, as well as its generously pitched Economy Class seats. Emirates has also shown its interest in adding Berlin to its global network and thereby expanding operations in Germany
Emirates will also dedicate an area to showcase its latest sustainability initiatives, including onboard items that incorporate responsibly-sourced materials, and items from ‘Air-crafted by Emirates’ – a unique collection of luggage, bags and accessories made from up cycled materials from retrofitted A380 aircraft. The airline’s sustainability efforts focus on three areas: reducing emissions, consuming responsibly, and protecting biodiversity and habitats.
Emirates: A Longstanding Gateway between Europe and the World
Emirates boasts a long history of connecting Europe with the world, having begun service in 1987. They’ve strategically grown their network to include not only major European hubs, but also secondary cities. This commitment has significantly benefitted the economies of these destinations by fostering tourism, economic development, and job creation. Their impressive European footprint currently covers 39 destinations in 22 countries. Beyond their direct network, Emirates offers access to an additional 403 destinations through codeshare agreements with 51 partners, providing even greater travel options. Building on this success, Emirates aims to leverage ITB Berlin and collaborate with regional tourism bodies to further expand connectivity between Europe and the rest of the world.
In the past year, Emirates has played a key role in connecting Europe with the world. They’ve transported over 17.2 million passengers on flights between Dubai and their various European destinations. This strong network allows for smooth and convenient travel, not just between Europe and Dubai, but also to countless other locations within Emirates’ global network.
