English footballer Kalvin Phillips has made a significant move from Manchester City to West Ham United, remaining in the Premier League. Phillips, brought from Leeds United as a key reinforcement, found limited opportunities under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, featuring in only 10 games and scoring once this season. Guardiola had previously hinted at Phillips’ departure, and amidst various offers, West Ham emerged as the chosen destination.
This move comes at an opportune time for West Ham, who are seeking to fill the gap left by Declan Rice’s departure. The agreement between the clubs includes an option for West Ham to purchase Phillips’ contract at season’s end. Phillips, who did not start any games this season and was overlooked even during Rodri’s injury, was also a target for Newcastle and was briefly linked with Barcelona. Currently, West Ham holds the sixth position in the Premier League. Phillips is scheduled for a medical examination in London and will sign with his new club, with a potential debut on February 1 against Bournemouth. Following this, West Ham faces Manchester United three days later.
