Tottenham Hotspur has officially confirmed the loan signing of striker Timo Werner from RB Leipzig. Under the agreement, Werner will stay with Spurs until the season’s end, with an option for Tottenham to purchase his contract for €17 million in the summer. This season, Werner’s performance at Leipzig was underwhelming, netting only two goals in 14 appearances.
Now, he gets a fresh start at Tottenham, a club contending for a Champions League spot and eyeing the English Premier League title. Additionally, Tottenham is reportedly close to acquiring Radu Dragusin, with English media already touting him as Tottenham’s new addition.
Werner, previously with Chelsea, joined them in 2020 for €53 million from RB Leipzig, and later returned to Leipzig for €20 million. Despite winning the Champions League with Chelsea, his performance was marred by notable misses.
Werner, a Stuttgart youth product, moved to RB Leipzig in 2016 for €23 million, establishing his reputation on the big stage. He has made 57 appearances for the German national team, scoring 24 goals.
