The Brazilian national football team is currently in search of a new head coach following the departure of Fernando Diniz. Ednaldo Rodrigues, the president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), has stated that their aim is to find a long-term solution in the near future. Consequently, Diniz’s one-year contract was cut short, as it was evident that his tenure would not be extended regardless of outcomes. The CBF’s initial choice was the seasoned Carlo Ancelotti, but he recently renewed his contract with Real Madrid until 2026, leaving the Brazilian federation disappointed.
In light of this, the CBF is now considering Dorival Junior, the current coach of São Paulo FC, as a potential candidate. Discussions have already taken place, but São Paulo is demanding a compensation of €900,000 for releasing their coach. In Brazil, football, especially the national team, holds a revered status, yet the clubs assert their own interests, complicating the coaching transition for the national team.
Interestingly, José Mourinho, the manager of Roma, has also been a popular choice among fans for the Brazilian team’s coaching role. However, Mourinho, content with his position in Rome, has dismissed any speculation about leaving his current role. He clarified that neither he nor his agent had been approached for the position. Brazil is gearing up for two friendly matches against England and Spain, which will be significant challenges for the new coach, expected to be appointed by the end of the month.
