Bayern Munich Reportedly Keen on Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier

Bayern Munich is typically not very active in the January transfer window, but this year in Munich, things are much “busier” than usual. The club recently welcomed Eric Dier, and according to German media, another reinforcement from the English Premier League is on the way. This season, English players are the main attraction at Bayern, starting with Harry Kane’s successful transfer from Tottenham in the summer. Continuing their shopping spree at Tottenham, Bayern officially brought in defender Eric Dier a few days ago, but it seems their transfer activity won’t stop there. German media report this morning that the Munich club is eyeing several other footballers, with one close to joining.

Reputed German newspaper Bild has announced that Bayern intends to strengthen their right-back position, setting their sights on Kieran Trippier, who is currently in top form at Newcastle. Despite Trippier being one of Newcastle’s key players and initial doubts about the feasibility of the transfer, it appears that Bayern’s interest is serious. Newcastle’s need to comply with financial fair play regulations might make Trippier’s sale a strategic move. Negotiations for the 33-year-old right-back have already begun, and Trippier himself is reportedly open to the move, hoping for a swift resolution.

If all goes as planned, Trippier could be in Munich for medical examinations and to sign the contract as early as next week. His addition would undoubtedly be a significant boost for Bayern. Trippier, originally from Manchester City, gained fame for his outstanding performances at Tottenham. In the summer of 2019, he moved to Atletico Madrid and returned to England three years later, joining Newcastle for 14 million euros.
