The first major transfer of this winter has been finalized, with North Macedonia’s Eljif Elmas playing a pivotal role. Although the winter transfer window officially opens on January 1, this significant deal has already been settled. As anticipated, Eljif Elmas will transfer from Napoli to RB Leipzig. He is set to sign a contract with the German team on January 1, extending through 2028. The club’s official confirmation is pending. Napoli will receive a transfer fee of 23 million euros, having acquired Elmas from Fenerbahce in 2019. He is poised to take over from Emil Forsberg.
Elmas expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “For me, moving to the Bundesliga and joining RB Leipzig is an absolute dream. The club’s distinctive style of football, characterized by pressing, speed, and robust offense, aligns perfectly with my abilities. The team offers a compelling blend of emerging talents and seasoned players who have substantial experience and achievements. This makes the transfer to Leipzig an ideal fit for me. I eagerly anticipate joining the team in January.”
“RB Leipzig has rapidly established itself as a leading Bundesliga club and gained prominence in Europe,” Elmas continued. “We have a challenging second half of the season ahead. I aim to contribute significantly, helping us stay competitive in the Bundesliga and possibly spring a surprise in the Champions League against Real Madrid.” Elmas will succeed Emil Forsberg at RB Leipzig, with Forsberg set to join Red Bulls New York in the MLS.
