In the league’s 15th round, Leverkusen clinched a decisive 3-0 win against Eintracht Frankfurt, the team that recently triumphed over Bayern with a 5-1 scoreline. Leverkusen took an early lead in the 12th minute through Nigerian footballer Victor Boniface. Although Alejandro Grimaldo’s free kick in the 35th minute narrowly missed the goal, Leverkusen strengthened their lead to 2-0 in the 52nd minute, thanks to Jeremie Frimpong converting a rebound.
The game was effectively settled five minutes later when Boniface set up Wirtz, who skillfully lobbed the ball over Frankfurt’s goalkeeper. Wirtz nearly added a second goal in the 81st minute but struck the crossbar. Three minutes following, Leverkusen was again denied by the goalpost, this time with Hincapie’s shot.
