The US Coast Guard has successfully recovered human remains and remnants from the ill-fated Titan submersible, which imploded while on its way to explore the Titanic wreck in the Atlantic Ocean. These items are the final parts of the submersible, which unfortunately claimed the lives of all five crew members during its deep-sea mission.
According to Coast Guard officials, the additional parts of the craft were retrieved from the sea floor last week and have been taken to a US port. Medical experts will now analyze the human remains. Despite being described as “experimental” by OceanGate, the company that constructed it, the Titan submersible made several successful dives to the Titanic wreck, which rests at a depth of 3,800 meters (12,467 feet) below sea level in the North Atlantic Ocean.
The CEO of OceanGate, Stockton Rush, was on board the ill-fated vessel when it imploded under the immense water pressure. The other four passengers who tragically lost their lives were British-Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood (48) and his son Suleman (19), British businessman Hamish Harding (58), and Paul-Henry Nargeolet (77), a former French navy diver.
The collection and transportation of the remaining components were completed last Wednesday.
