Woman and Two Dogs Severely Injured in Suspected XL Bully Attack

In a shocking incident late on Saturday evening, a 29-year-old woman and her two dogs were seriously injured in a suspected XL bully attack. Authorities were promptly dispatched to the scene in North Tyneside around 11 pm.

Upon arrival, the severely injured woman was urgently transported to a local hospital with critical injuries to her arms and legs. Her two dogs, also injured in the episode, are now under veterinary care.

In the aftermath, Northumbria Police detained two individuals, a 22-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man. They are currently being held on suspicion of overseeing a dangerously uncontrolled dog. As a precautionary measure, five dogs, including two believed to be XL bullies, have been seized.

Detective Inspector Corrin Lowery spoke on the matter, “We understand the community’s concerns. I assure everyone that safety measures are in place, and a thorough investigation is ongoing.” He further emphasized that all individuals involved appear to be acquainted.

This incident adds to the growing concerns regarding XL bullies in the UK. Though developed from the American pit bull terrier, they aren’t officially categorized in the UK. Despite Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s pledge to ban the breed, experts highlight the difficulties in pinpointing them due to similarities with other breeds.
