Colin Kaepernick’s Bold Letter to the Jets: Eagerly Seeking a Spot on the Practice Squad

Colin Kaepernick made a bold move by writing a letter to the NY Jets’ general manager just days after Aaron Rodgers suffered a serious injury during MNF. In the letter, Kaepernick expressed his interest in being signed to the team’s practice squad.

The news of this correspondence was leaked by none other than J. Cole, who shared the typed letter on his X account.

Previously, there were rumors about Kaepernick’s interest in joining the Jets, but now we have the full letter.

“In light of the unfortunate loss of Aaron Rodgers, I am reaching out to offer my assistance. I understand that the team’s goal is to win a championship, and I would be honored to contribute in any way possible to keep the team on track for a Super Bowl,” wrote Kaepernick, who is 35 years old.

Contrary to popular belief, Kaepernick is not seeking the starting position. He explained, “While I would love the opportunity to fill that spot, I am writing to propose a different approach. I would be grateful for the chance to join the practice squad and help prepare the team each week.”

He emphasized, “My sole mission would be to get your defense ready for every game.”

For those unfamiliar with practice squads, they consist of 16 players who practice with the team but do not participate in games.

Being part of the practice squad involves a lot of sacrifice with little money or glory, especially for someone like Kaepernick who was once a star and even played in a Super Bowl.

Kaepernick also mentioned that if things didn’t work out with Zach Wilson, who is currently struggling, he could be a backup plan for the team.

“I believe in Zach Wilson’s abilities, but in the event that he is not able to perform, I would like to offer you a risk-free contingency plan,” Kaepernick added.

Despite not playing in the NFL since 2016, Kaepernick firmly believes he is still a top-tier quarterback.

“I am confident in my ability to provide you with an elite QB option if, God forbid, the starting quarterback gets injured,” Kaepernick stated.

Despite the long break, Kaepernick has never stopped training and is ready to play.

“Unlike many veteran quarterbacks that have retired or stopped training, I have continued to prepare myself,” Kaepernick expressed.

Despite the letter, the Jets have not yet signed Kaepernick.
