Neymar Set to Join Al Hilal from PSG

Brazilian footballer Neymar will soon bid adieu to PSG and don the colors of Arab Al Hilal.

Neymar is set to seal a two-year contract with Al Hilal, as reported by L’Equipe. This deal is reported annually at a sum of $175 million, translating to a staggering $1.7 million per week. Upon finalization of the agreement, Neymar will depart PSG two years ahead of the contract’s conclusion. At Al Hilal, he will join forces with Ruben Neves, Kalidou Koulibaly, Malcom, and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Neymar, now 31, made his exit from Barcelona in the summer of 2017, transferring to PSG for a still-standing record fee of 222 million euros. Al Hilal has pursued prominent players like Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe this summer. While Neymar’s shift is on the horizon, Messi has also departed PSG, and Mbappe’s situation remains uncertain. Recently, Mbappe conveyed his unwavering commitment to stay at PSG during this transfer window, a declaration that led the club to imply he might face exclusion from the first-team roster.

Although speculation had swirled about Neymar possibly rejoining the ranks of Barcelona, Transfermarkt data suggests that Al Hilal presents the most plausible destination for the transfer. Fabrizio Romano, a credible source, affirmed Neymar’s endorsement of the Al Hilal move while indicating that negotiations were still ongoing, with the deal now widely reported as agreed by all parties involved.

During his six-year tenure at PSG, Neymar participated in 173 matches, contributing 118 goals and 77 assists. However, he has consistently missed around 20 games per season due to injuries. His rapport with PSG fans has been contentious, marked by recurrent conflicts and even organized protests urging his departure from the club. Notably, in his initial stint, Neymar donned the Barcelona jersey 186 times between 2013 and 2017, amassing 105 goals and 76 assists.
