Manchester City footballer and English representative, Kyle Walker, has reached an agreement with Bayern Munich, as reported by Sky Germany. According to both British and German media, the representatives of the two clubs are expected to finalize the compensation amount in the coming days.
At 33 years old, Walker currently holds a contract with Manchester City until June 30 of next year. Recognized as one of the best right backs in the world, the English footballer has accepted Bayern’s offer to join the Bundesliga champions until June 2025, with the possibility of extending the partnership for an additional season.
Walker’s dissatisfaction with his playing time during the previous season with the Citizens became evident, and the final straw came during the Champions League final. Despite expectations for him to start the game, Walker only received a few minutes on the field, which did not sit well with him. This situation piqued the interest of Bayern’s leaders a month earlier, but it appears that no agreement was reached at that time, resulting in Walker’s decision to stay at City.
In addition, Fabrizio Romano shared on his Twitter account that Bayern has received an initial green light from Walker to proceed with negotiations for signing the right back. City could potentially expect to receive a fee upwards of €17.5 million for this player.
Having been a member of Manchester City since 2017, Walker previously played for Aston Villa, Queens Park Rangers, Sheffield United, Tottenham, and Northampton. Last season, he participated in 39 games across all competitions for Manchester City, contributing to their collection of 14 trophies. Additionally, Walker has represented the England national team in 76 matches. Since his arrival at the club in 2017 for a transfer fee of £45 million, he has made 254 appearances wearing the Citizens’ jersey, in addition to his previous 229 appearances for Tottenham.
Manchester City’s first Premier League match of the season will take place against Burnley on August 11th at 9:00 pm.
