Fenerbahce has made a significant addition to their defensive line with the signing of 27-year-old Brazilian center-back, Rodrigo Becão, from Udinese in Serie A. The exact transfer fee paid by the Istanbul team to Udinese remains undisclosed.
Rodrigo Becão initially moved to Udinese from his parent club, Brazilian side Bahia, in July 2019 for a fee of 1.6 million euros. During his time in Serie A, he demonstrated his defensive prowess in 28 appearances, scoring two goals. In the 2022/2023 season, Becão showcased his strength, winning 112 aerial duels and completing 10 successful tackles, along with an impressive total of seven blocks, ranking him at number 74 in Serie A after match day 38. He was also recognized as the 4th best player in Udinese based on the 1vs1 Index.
Having spent a season on loan at CSKA Moscow previously, Becão is now ready to take on new challenges with Fenerbahce.
This marks Fenerbahce’s fourth paid transfer during the summer transfer window. Szymanski arrived from Dynamo Moscow for 9.75 million euros, Henrique was acquired from Flamengo for 1.4 million euros, and Egribayat joined from Goztepe for a slightly lower fee. Additionally, the club welcomed Edin Dzeko and Dusan Tadic, with the potential arrival of Dominik Livakovic still in the works.
Last season, Fenerbahce narrowly missed the title, finishing in second place behind Galatasaray by just 8 points. With their impressive history of 28 Süper Lig titles, 7 Turkish Cups, and 9 Turkish Super Cups, along with the recent reinforcements, Fenerbahce is determined to compete for the championship this season.
The Süper Lig will kick off with Fenerbahce’s first match against Gaziantep FK on August 13th, starting at 12:00 AM. Fans are eagerly awaiting the debut of their new defensive reinforcement, Rodrigo Becão.
