Former President Donald Trump has cast doubt on President Joe Biden’s ability to run for re-election in 2024. In an interview uploaded on X, formerly known as Twitter, Trump discussed his absence from the first Republican debate while eight of his party colleagues debated in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Trump, 77, asserted that his absence from the debate made sense due to his significant lead in opinion polls for the Republican Party’s candidate nomination. During the interview, he strongly criticized Biden, labeling him “the worst president in the history of our country.”
The former president went on to criticize Biden’s mental and physical capabilities, claiming that he struggles to form coherent sentences and exhibit basic physical abilities. Trump even suggested that Biden might not make it to the starting gate for the re-election race, despite “miracles” being performed for him.
In response to interviewer Tucker Carlson’s question about running against Biden, Trump expressed his desire to do so, referring to him as “crooked Joe Biden.” However, Trump is currently facing legal challenges himself, and his former lawyer Rudy Giuliani has surrendered to authorities over accusations related to the 2020 election results.
During the interview, Trump dismissed the charges against him as politically motivated and expressed confidence that the public sees them as fraudulent.
Carlson also broached the topic of Trump’s safety, suggesting that he could be assassinated by political opponents. Trump responded by characterizing his opponents as “savage animals,” but also noted that most people in the country are fantastic, regardless of their political affiliation.
He also discussed his Republican rivals, criticizing presidential hopefuls Asa Hutchinson and former ally Chris Christie. Trump explained his decision not to participate in the debate, highlighting his significant lead over his opponents in the polls.
Lastly, Trump called for an immediate end to the war in Ukraine, expressing his belief that the conflict would not have begun under his presidency.
