People “come from all over” to see the lights
Christmas has well and truly arrived in one part of Merseyside. Neighbours on Leveret Road in Speke have gone above and beyond to spread Christmas cheer this year.
With thousands of colourful Christmas lights lighting up the street, inflatable snowmen, gingerbread men, Santa and reindeers on show, it’s possible that this could be Liverpool’s most Christmassy street. And one couple, Charlie Foster, 87, and his wife Margaret, 83, have told the ECHO how it all came together.
Margaret said: “We’ve been lighting up the street for five years now. Our neighbour, Mark, thought it would be a good idea to brighten up the street after covid. He wanted to make Christmas special for all the kids and put a smile on their faces, we’ve been doing it ever since.”
The nan-of-eight told the ECHO how people “come from all over” to see the lights. She said: “The cars don’t stop coming up and down all night.”
Although a lot of work goes into the display, she says it’s worth it to see the smiles on all the children’s faces and despite being over 80 years old, these two don’t plan on stopping lighting up the community any time soon.
Here are some pictures of what we think could be Liverpool’s most Christmassy street.
