Udinese Shocks AC Milan at San Siro with Season’s First Win

In the 11th round of Serie A action, AC Milan suffered a surprising home defeat to Udinese at the iconic San Siro. The sole goal of the match, a penalty converted by Roberto Pereyra, granted Udinese their first win of the season.

Facing pressure from their looming Champions League clash with PSG, Milan appeared to dominate the game right from the onset. Despite their control, Udinese successfully stifled Milan’s attacking efforts. The first half concluded without any goals, with Milan unable to penetrate Udinese’s staunch defense.

The story remained the same in the second half: Milan’s dominance was evident, but Udinese’s defense held firm. An opportunity for Milan went astray when Okafor’s shot veered wide. The game’s decisive moment came in the 61st minute when Yacine Adli committed a costly foul in the box. Roberto Pereyra confidently stepped up and buried the penalty, giving Udinese a crucial lead.

Despite Milan’s relentless efforts and strategic changes by coach Stefan Pioli, they couldn’t find the equalizer. The match concluded with a 1:0 victory for the visitors. This unexpected loss is a setback for the Rossoneri, who entered the match as heavy favorites. With this defeat, Milan remains in third place in Serie A with 22 points, trailing behind Juventus with 23 points and leaders Inter Milan with 28 points.

For Udinese, this victory is a significant morale boost. Before this match, they had managed only seven draws and suffered three losses. The win elevates them to 16th place with a total of 10 points. Rade Krunic, representing Milan, played the first half and was cautioned with a yellow card.
