In a startling incident near Turkey’s parliament in Ankara on Sunday, a “terrorist attack” occurred, resulting in the injury of two police officers, as confirmed by the interior ministry.
The ministry stated two attackers arrived at around 9:30 am in a commercial vehicle near the entrance gate of the General Directorate of Security of the Ministry of the Interior, where they carried out a bomb attack. The incident was captured on cameras surrounding the building and adjacent roads.
The ministry further stated that one of the terrorists detonated himself, while the other was neutralized. Although two police officers sustained minor injuries, no fatalities were reported.
The targeted district houses several other government ministries and the Turkish parliament. The parliament was scheduled to reopen on the same day with a speech by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as reported by Turkish media.
