A fire incident occurred at the well-known Pattaya Floating Market, situated in the Bang Lamung District of Chonburi Province, on September 7 at 8:00 p.m. This unfortunate incident resulted in the destruction of the predominantly wooden market, leaving only the roof and pillars standing.
During the fire outbreak, some market employees took swift action and jumped into the water to escape the rapidly spreading flames. Fortunately, there were no reports of serious injuries or casualties.
Efforts to combat the fire involved the deployment of more than 20 fire trucks. However, extinguishing the blaze proved challenging due to the majority of the market’s structures being made of wood, and the presence of gusty rain in the area. Additionally, there were occasional sounds of explosions.
By approximately 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, firefighters managed to gain control over the fire that had engulfed Pattaya Floating Market since 8:00 p.m. Firefighters continued to use water to prevent any potential reignition, and further investigations will be conducted to determine the causes and assess the extent of the damages.
