Canada Seizes Bronze in Thrilling Overtime Victory Against USA at FIBA Basketball World Cup

In the semi-finals of the FIBA Basketball World Cup, both the American and Canadian teams were knocked out, with Germany and Serbia emerging victorious. Today, these two teams faced off in a thrilling battle for the third-place spot, with Canada delivering another blow to American basketball, clinching a 127-118 victory after overtime.

The Canadians began the game with a brilliant 0-8 run, establishing a commanding 13-point lead during the first quarter. The first half concluded with Canada still in the lead at 58-56, despite several occasions when the Americans surged ahead by four points. After a brief halftime break, Canada regrouped and performed exceptionally well in the third quarter, extending their lead to nine points, with a score of 91-82 as they entered the final period.

However, Canada experienced a setback, allowing the Americans to make a comeback and take the lead multiple times. With a score of 107-106 in favor of Canada, the Americans managed to level the game, pushing it into overtime. The overtime period was nothing short of dramatic, beginning with Canada securing a 5-0 run. Despite the USA narrowing the deficit to four points, Canada held firm. When Canada led 124-115 with just 40 seconds remaining, it became clear who would claim the bronze medal.

The standout player of the game was Brooks, who contributed 39 points, four rebounds, and five assists for Canada.
