Kanye West has had his Twitter account reinstated after an almost eight-month ban due to offensive tweets. The ban was imposed for violating the platform’s rules against incitement to violence. Since his return, Kanye has not posted any new content on the site, which has been rebranded to X by its owner, Elon Musk.
Prior to the suspension, Kanye’s last post on Twitter was on December 1, 2022. Musk, at the time, cited the violation of rules against incitement to violence as the reason for the suspension. This action came after Kanye posted a series of offensive tweets, one of which included a symbol combining a swastika and the Star of David.
Before this recent suspension, Kanye faced a similar ban two months earlier when both Twitter and Instagram locked him out of his accounts for posting anti-Semitic messages in October. His posts were removed from both platforms. Additionally, in the same month, Adidas ended its partnership with Kanye, stating that they do not tolerate anti-Semitism or hate speech.
Kanye had previously been suspended from Instagram for 24 hours in March of the previous year after using a racial slur in reference to comedian Trevor Noah.
As of now, neither the rebranded X platform nor its owner, Elon Musk, have publicly commented on Kanye’s account reinstatement on Saturday. It’s worth noting that Musk had previously reinstated former US President Donald Trump’s account after conducting a poll where 51.8% of respondents voted in favor of the reinstatement. However, Trump expressed no interest in returning to the platform.
