The National Theatre’s smash hit production of The Ocean at the End of the Lane will return to London’s West End for a strictly limited seven-week run this autumn after a highly acclaimed tour across the UK and Ireland. This thrilling adventure of fantasy, myth, and friendship, adapted by Joel Horwood and directed by Katy Rudd from Neil Gaiman’s best-selling book, will play at the Nol Coward Theatre from October 11 to November 25, 2023. On June 7, you can purchase tickets from oceanonstage.com.

This is Neil Gaiman’s first major stage adaptation, which combines magic and memory in a masterful tale that transports the audience on an epic journey to a once-forgotten childhood and the darkness that lurks therein. The entire cast, which is touring 29 towns and cities in the UK and Ireland, will move with the show into London’s West End.
The best-selling novel The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman was first published ten years ago this year. The original won Book of the Year at 2013 Public Book Grants and has sold over 1.5 million duplicates around the world.
The Sea toward the Finish of the Path creation accepted its reality debut at the Public Auditorium in 2019. In 2021, the Duke of York’s Theatre was where it made its debut in the West End.

“The Ocean at the End of the Lane won a lot of awards, people loved it, and then the National Theatre turned it into the most amazing play,” said Neil Gaiman, a writer. This glorious adaptation of my book will be returning to the West End on St. Martin’s Lane, and I am beyond thrilled and overjoyed. It makes people wonder, laugh, and cry. This is your chance to see it, if you wanted to.”

Rufus Norris, director of the National Theatre, stated: For the past seven months, this beautiful story from Neil Gaiman’s incredible imagination has been greatly enjoyed by audiences in the UK and Ireland. We are overjoyed to see that Joel Horwood, Katy Rudd, and their formidable creative team’s original production of The Ocean at the End of the Lane for our Dorfman Theatre continues its magical journey, delighting audiences of all ages.

The ensemble cast of 17 includes: Charlie Creeks (Ursula), Daniel Cornish (substitute Kid), Trevor Fox (Father), Emma-Jane Goodwin (student), Paolo Guidi (gathering), Millie Hikasa (Lettie Hempstock), Lewis Howard (student), Kemi-Bo Jacobs (Ginnie Hempstock), Jasmeen James (student), Ronnie Lee (gathering), Aimee McGoldrick (outfit), Laurie Ogden (Sister), Keir Ogilvy (Kid), Domonic Ramsden (gathering), Joe Rawlinson-Chase (student), Risha Silvera (student) and Finty Williams (Old Mrs Hempstock).

Fly Davis, the set designer, is a member of the award-winning creative team; Samuel Wyer, who designed costumes and puppets; development chief, Steven Hoggett; Jherek Bischoff, the composer; Paule Constable, the designer of the lighting; sound fashioner, Ian Dickinson; Jamie Harrison, director of magic and illusions and designer; Naomi Downham, casting director, and Finn Caldwell, puppetry director. The Sandman series, a major new Netflix series that was watched by audiences all over the world for over 198 million hours in its first 10 days, is one of Neil Gaiman’s graphic novels. Stardust, Coraline, and The Graveyard Book, among others, are among his books for children and adults; and numerous motion picture and television productions, including Anansi Boys and Good Omens, whose second season will premiere on Amazon Prime on July 28.

The Ocean at the End of the Lane will move to the Nol Coward Theatre on October 7, following a 39-week UK and Ireland tour. Oceanonstage.com is where you can purchase tickets. At every venue, assisted performances are available.
